The IMPROVISOR concept - a new way of composing

Improvisor is a MIDI sequencer application which plays back multiple step sequences with up to 64 steps in length.

Each sequence is entered using velocity and semitone patterns, relative to a root note.

Semitone patterns can be played back using different velocity patterns or the other way around.

Semitone patterns can follow each other, which means they will add to each other's relative semitone steps.

By drawing your own semitone and velocity patterns, and making patterns follow each other, you can create completely new melodies, which you didn't imagine before!

AudioCubes, the fastest and most stimulating interface for generative music

In IMPROVISOR, velocity and semitone patterns are linked automatically to smart wireless blocks, called the AudioCubes. The patterns are played back in a loop by the cubes.

This unique hardware interface lets you directly grasp the components of your music, and mix and match them simply by mixing and matching physical blocks.

Each cube plays the melody created using its velocity and semitone pattern. Place cubes next to each other to make melodies follow each other. Assign colours as visual feedback.

No pointing and clicking through endless graphical user interfaces. Just playing with smart musical blocks, and creating impressive new melodies, in key and in rhythm.

Key Feature Summary

AudioCubes and IMPROVISOR play well with your other hardware and software

Do you already have hardware and software for music making? No problem, each cube playing back a melody in IMPROVISOR can send MIDI notes to a different MIDI port and channel. Use one cube for the lead melody and another for the bassline, and perhaps another one for strings. The possibilities are endless.

Do you want to synchronize melodies created using the cubes and IMPROVISOR with your drum machine or digital audio workstation (DAW) software? No problem. IMPROVISOR can receive MIDI clock from any MIDI port, regardless whether the MIDI comes from a hardware or software instrument or device. Use IMPROVISOR with software like Ableton Live, Propellerheads Reason, Image Line FL Studio, ... or with hardware such as Elektron's Machinedrum!

Are you a DJ using turntables, but would like to add melodies on top of what you're playing? You can tap the tempo in IMPROVISOR, so even if you don't have MIDI clock you can still get everything synced up.

Easily save and recall your work

Once you've entered your velocity and semitone patterns, and set up your cubes using different colours, it's a snap to save your work to a song file, which you can then load up anytime you need to perform the song again or want to continue your composition or experimentation work. Songs are stored in a simple text format for easy exchange online in forums.
